Each of the three types of script has its own specific role. Initially before 5th century Japanese writing system is not existed. They borrowed kanji i.e. pictorial representation or Chinese character from china. But there are lots of characters approx 10,000 which are difficult to memorize. And we cannot write everything in kanji. So they created hiragana which is derived from kanji and all the foreign words are written in katakana which is also derived from kanji.

The Japanese language is considered as the one of the most difficult to learn by English speaker due to 3 writing systems, an opposite sentence formation compare to English. But it’s interesting language just require some time to learn specially for Hindi native speaker it is much easy to learn as sentence formation is same as Hindi.

Japanese language profiency test (JLPT) is a standardized criterion test to evaluate and certify Japanese language proficiency for non native speakers, covering language knowledge, reading ability and listening ability. The test is held twice a year (on the first Sunday of July and December).

JLPT is divided into 5 levels from n5 to n1.

  • JLPT N5 – Basic level 1
  • JLPT N4- Basic level 2
  • JLPT N3 – Intermediate level
  • JLPT N2- Pre-advanced level
  • JLPT N1- Advanced level

The JLPT is open to all non- native Japanese speakers. Eligibility extends to holder of Japanese citizens. There are no age restrictions for the JLPT.

To pass the N5, you will need to know about 100-150 kanji and about 800 vocabulary words. To pass the N4, you will need to know about 300 kanji and about 1500 vocabulary words. To pass N3, you will need to know about 400 kanji’s and about 3700 vocabulary words. To pass the N2, you will need to know about 1000 kanji and about 6000 vocabulary words. To pass the N1 you will know about 2000 kanji and about 10,000 vocabulary words.

JLPT N3 / JLPT N2 is about minimum level you should have if you will be using Japanese in your job. Some internships and companies require N1, but as long as you have a great impression in the interview, you can still get a good position.

Among foreign languages in India, Japanese language classes in India are one of the most sought-after. The scope is immense. You have job possibilities in the travel & tourism sector for language expert. It could also be with commerce, business, industrial houses, embassies, and MNC.

Minimum year require to learn till N1 is 2.5 years. As each level requires 170 hr.

Watching Anime can certainly be a useful tool to learn Japanese language. Yes, people can learn at least a bit watching anime!  However, your understanding will be quite basic; therefore, you will only understand simple conversations in Japanese. ... It is worthwhile to note that if you learn Japanese by only watching anime, you will likely not be able to write the language at all.

The JLPT certificates never expire. Results of the old test through 2009 also continue to be valid. However, companies and educational institutions that refer to test results sometimes set a time limit on the certificate.
